In honor of my 30th

Here are 30 things about me:

1. I grew up in a small town, but now live in a large-ish city.
2. I enjoy baking.
3. Books are a passion of mine.
4. I really don't like ketchup.
5. I rarely sleep in.
6. I like dogs, but I'd rather have a cat for a pet.
7. Sweets are a weakness.
8. I like my nachos a little on the soggy side.
9. My favorite colors are pink and purple.
10. The first thing I do when I get home is kick off my shoes.
11. I'm currently wearing a t-shirt that is 13 years old.
12. I only like peanut butter when it is paired with chocolate.
13. I hate shopping for clothes.
14. I'm almost always cold, no matter the season.
15. I don't mind grocery shopping.
16. I drive a compact car.
17. I've been married for over 7 years.
18. I kinda miss school (college/graduate school, that is).
19. I have small ears.
20. My favorite part of the day is when everyone else is still asleep.
21. I'm obsessed with Food Network.
22. In high school I was a band geek and a cheerleader (though not at the same time).
23. I was 29 when I first went to Disney World.
24. My favorite season is Spring.
    
25. I love television.
    
26. My toenails are painted red.
    
27. I really like Disney movies.
28. I enjoy my job, but hate the commute.
29. I like my tea sweet.
    
30. Today is my birthday! And 30...is not that bad.
    

My first Thanksgiving (of sorts)

This is what he looked like when we pulled him from the oven. He was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. In short, he was perfect. Everything else turned out well, and I managed to time it perfectly so everything was done at the same time. I had my first Thanksgiving as hostess, and it was successful! I will no longer be terrified by a little 12 pound bird.

What's for dinner

• Roasted Turkey
• Gravy
• Mashed Potatoes
• Dressing
  
• Green Bean Casserole
• Rolls
• Salad with Romaine, Strawberries, and Almonds
• Cranberry Sauce
• Pecan Pie
• Turtle Pumpkin Pie

Now that I look at it, it sure seems like a LOT of food for 5 people. I guess that means there will be plenty for leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving!

Obsessed

My in-laws sent me a beautiful vase of flowers for my birthday, and I thought I would share with you all how my cats react to all things organic.

Must. Go. On. Blogging.

I realize it's only 8:30, but I feel like it should be about midnight or so. Today was a very long and very busy day at work, and I'm afraid tomorrow will be the same since we're not in clinic on Thursday or Friday for the holiday. I've been going nonstop since 5:30 this morning and I'm about to crash. Ugh. Tomorrow Husband's family will get here, but thankfully we've already decided we are doing takeout for tomorrow's dinner. But I've still got to get the bird in the brine and maybe make the stock. We'll see. For now I'm going to bed. 

Still a lot left to do

Maybe I should be positive and state what has been done so far:

•  Pecan pie is finished
  
• Turtle pumpkin pie (except for finishing touches just before serving)
• Bagels have been bought and frozen for breakfasts
• Banana muffins for breakfast
  
• Veggies have been prepped
• Turkey is mostly thawed
• Laundry is almost done

I still have a few things to do before my next training session in a couple of hours. Maybe I'll have time to watch last week's Top Chef *fingers crossed*.

Can't quit now

I want to. I really do. It seems like it's only going to get more difficult what with Thanksgiving this week and my birthday a couple of days later. My friends left this afternoon and I was able to squeeze in a nap before heading to the gym then grocery shopping. I just have so much to do before my next wave of company arrives on Wednesday evening. Then there's Thursday...I've never cooked a turkey before. I can handle the rest of the fixin's but that bird just scares the pee out of me. 

I won't quit NaBloPoMo, but I can't promise long (or even terribly interesting) posts this week. But there's only 8 more days left in this month.
